Catty Shack is a non profit Ranch and Wildlife Sanctuary located in Jacksonville Florida. Also nominated as a top destination on Trip Advisor’s #1 attraction in Jacksonville. The Sanctuary provides a safe, loving and forever home to endangered big cats and to educate the public about their plight in the wild and captivity. All the animals taken into Catty Shack have a permanent home for life.
Catty Shack also strongly believes in educating children and the public about the beautiful animals and offers tours year around. The ranch is completely run by volunteers and 100% of the donations go directly to the animals.
You can partner by donating, adopting, volunteering, or becoming a partners for paws. For $40 you can get updates on your resident, a plaque at the main gate, 5×7 photo, and “I adopted decal”.
We visited the ranch one Saturday evening to see the night feeding and it did not disappoint. Upon arriving you watch a brief educational video on the sanctuary and then are led on a guided tour of the facility and see the animals and how they came to be at the ranch. It’s truly amazing to see the love that is taken into taking care of these beautiful, exotic animals. The night feeding is beyond captivating, and you get to be a part of the experience as the Director feeds the animals and can engage in the excitement. Our favorite residents were Freddy the lion and Runty the White Tiger.
Catty Shack is open for tours during the day on Thursday and Sunday from 1pm – 4pm. Last admittance is 3:15pm. Price of admission is $10 for adults, $5 Children (3-11) & 2 and under are free.
Night Feedings are on Wednesday, Friday & Saturday from 6:00-8:00pm. Last admittance is 7:15pm. Price of admission is $15 adults, $10 Children (3-11) & 1 and under are free.
For Fall Fun visit the Haunted Forest going on until the end of October from the 6th to the 27th. Check website for times and see how brave you are to make it out alive. Adults 12 and up $15, children (3-11), $10, kids 2 and under free.
